Magazine Final Pieces and Description
This is my finished Magazine i used colours that will stand out to make the banners and also the puffs to drag the audiences attention and get them more interested as to what will also be in the magazine.
I used numerous images along with the main big image as we as human being are attracted to images so this again would attract the audiences attention towards the magazine.
The layout is overlapped to show its relativity to the Kerrang style magazine in the way that its all closed together to as if its "In Your Face" this is a key concept I aiming for as i had a lot of images that i wanted to incorporate into the Magazine Front Cover, the special offers on the Front cover such as the Pugs, will give the audience another reason to buy and will expand the target audience.
The reason for the colours used is that bright colours make the magazine stand out as they are the ones most quickly deciphered by the brain, the colour yellow as used twice is relevant as it may give the magazine the edge of looking more appealing due to it being seen first ahead of other magazines. The main image depicts two men smiling, this is similar to main images seen on Kerrang also so this is in keeping with that concept and idea. I used a bar code in the bottom right hand corner as it is used in all magazines as it is a typical concept used. The Logo seems laid back also and as it is in red which is also a colour that we see quickly this again could give the magazine more chance of being favoured by an audience. The dark background helps the light coloured objects stand out on the page.
The Contents page was Inspired by the contents pages done by Kerrang i wanted to keep a main image from the specialist article in the magazine in the top left right hand corner just like Kerrang do as well as displaying the text in the same fashion that Kerrang do. I wanted to include stuff about the magazine in the far left hand side, and also include my own features such as the images below and creating competitions which i feel could make magazines more appealing. The Contents page layout is short as sweet as I didn't want to reveal anything or give anything away about what's in the magazine, I added a barbed wire affect above the Jolo logo to show its raw and in your face style similar to Kerrang who Include barbed wire directly on their logo instead, but they still keep within the theme off danger which barbed wire is often associated with. The little images i included is different to Kerrang but in my opinion work as they give focus to the image rather than just paragraphs of content of what's going to be in the magazine which in my own opinion is deemed a waste of time and reading. The use of colour is significant as it is mostly black but the writing it in yellow again in theme with the belief that yellow stands out the most, it gives readers who just want a quick glance the ability to see, things quickly and simple. The offers shown in the bottom right hand corner give something a little extra to the audience and genre which some magazines do not offer, its in relation to Kerrang who also include offers like this on their magazine contents page. The title is also in relevance to the house style as its in the same style writing as the Logo of Jolo and in the same red colour.
The Magazine double page spread was originally based on a double page spread done by Q magazine as the layout reminded me of this but after research it again reminded me of Kerrang this is due to the content included, the small paragraph taken out of the article shows how its a like to Kerrang as they do this to catch the readers attention as they flip through and they sometimes use outrageous headlines that make readers and the audience want to carry on reading to find out what it was all about. The main image shows the two men back to back this shows they are in my own cheesy words "back to their best" this article shows how they have overcome criticism come back bigger and better than they were hence the main image shown. I created a twitter image of the band to make it look more professional as it shows how cross media convergence is relevant to any part of the media industry. It also makes it stand out more and shows how the audience who like the article can follow the band outside of just on the magazine and can follow them on social media. The star simple as shown on the main image is used as sign via the band which is also visible on the Front Cover main image of the band. The sub image of the "Knickers" give a brief insight as to what is going to be included in the magazine and shows how it can attract the audiences. The Logo of " Green Teeth" as also shown on the other pages shows how they can also be recognised through their fans to know that it is a genuine article from the bands own views and their own perspective. Their is a small paragraph at the start which is so familiar to Kerrang as it used on every single double page spread to show what the magazine article is about, this shows how much in relativity it is to Kerrang rather than other magazines which is could be deemed similar to

Front Page, Day by Day
This is how I done my Front Cover, day by day and step by step. I took a picture by the liverpool docks to represent where the band is from and I took a picture of the two people in the picture and cropped out the background , i created banners on photo shop and added text to make it look more closer to a magazine via the way it looks. The random pictures on the right are of barely any relevance as I wanted to not take any attention away from the larger image of the two people. I added multicoloured bars to show its a friendly type of magazine, also I used a barcode from the internet and included it on the magazine to make it look more professional and like a real magazine.
Contents Page, Day by Day
This is how I done my Contents page step by day and day by day. I took another picture of the two people from the front cover to show that they are a key part of the magazine I also took a picture of another boy because its relevant and related to Kerrang magazine who have pictures in almost the same places and this picture shows the editor. I created little designs to fill up the space and make it look better. I created text boxes with red and yellow writing which make it stand out and I added typical scenes from a Music magazine such as the cropped contents in the far left
Double Page Spread, Day by Day
This is how I done my Double page spread day by day and step by step. I again got another picture of the main actors to show their relevance as their the main images on this page, i created this based on a mixture of Q magazine and kerrang. i created little designs to make it look more professional and make it stand out.

Props and Actors
The equipment that i will be using will be using to make my magazine will be:
Different clothing for each person, in a specified rock clothing usually black and white
(this will be to make the logo stand out i will add on later)
Possibly a lone acoustic guitar with words written across it
Also a camera as without it no images would be taken or used and the magazine would not be any good.
I just asked my "Band" played by Jack Hughes and Graeme McCullough to wear their typical sixth form clothes (a shirt, tie and pants) this is because it shows they are smart and are a positive influence in the music industry.
I borrowed chairs from school and got the two boys to act in various poses to show they are in the music industry.

The following pictures represent the picture i will be trying to replicate in someway

This is my mood board to show the genre of Rock and Roll
This is my mood board used with special effects on the bands to show the alternative route my magazine will be going down compared to the other magazines. The bright logos which are well known all around the world are in a stand out colour to mark their importance, Logos distinguish a band and can make them well known. this is why they are included

Jolo Magazine Name

The differences in text are shown here, my magazine name JOLO is a name that has a soft ring to it so the importance of the text is shown by the "curliness" of the text. the differences in text will be shown int he above curly text and the more in your face style below.
The font of the text is not the sole most important thing, it alines with colour to be of importance, the colour of the text can make a magazine live up to its genre such as if Kerrang's masthead was in a pink text but did a piece about Black Sabbath it would not fit due to the genre of the magazines piece of black sabbath's genre would be heavy metal and that is usually associated with dark colours mostly black.
The magazine's image is also important as it gives the typography meaning as to the colours used in the picture will often represent that of the genre that will be included
Typography

The typography of magazines refers to the colour use and also the type of font used, it distinguishes the magazines from the crowd and gives them differences from other magazines of similar genre.
The typography of Q Magazine differs to the style of MOJO despite them being similar in terms of genre but the typography is completely different, the colours used in the masthead by Q is used to make it out stand out as the colours of red and yellow are perceived quicker than any other colour by our human brain, the colour red is used more in link with the masthead.
While in MOJO the masthead is in black but the secondary colour of orange is used around the magazine this is in link with the free item which is common in many magazines.
The Pop magazine's typography is extremely simple but portrayed in a extremely different style to that of pop as its colours are of dark quantity while pop is bright and colourful. The difference in typography could be down to the artist or artists due to be on the cover that week, the genre, or the target audience.
Below is an example of the typography i expect to use in my magazine
